Holland Expedition

The French expedition to Holland aimed to repel British and Russian coalition forces occupying the Batavian Republic. Moreau succeeded in restoring French control over the region.

After victory in Germany, France had to secure its positions against coalition incursions in the Netherlands, important for their strategic position on the English Channel.

Moreau conducted a rapid, coordinated campaign, combining land maneuvers with pressure on strategic river and coastal points, disorganizing enemy forces.

The reconquest of Holland allowed France to strengthen its northern frontiers and contributed to peace negotiations leading to the Treaty of Amiens.
