About the Project Mission & Values
Discover our historical approach

Our Mission

Battles of France was born from the desire to make French military history accessible through a modern, interactive format. Our goal is to preserve the memory of the great battles that shaped the history of France and Europe.

This educational project is aimed at all history enthusiasts, from students to researchers, as well as curious readers who want to better understand the events that shaped our past. We believe that military history is not just about dates and names, but above all about human stories, strategic choices, and lasting consequences.

Our Values

Historical Rigor

Each battle is documented with precision, drawing on reliable historical sources and recognised research.

Accessibility

History should be accessible to everyone. We present information in a clear and engaging way without sacrificing accuracy.

Innovation

We use modern technologies to create an immersive experience: interactive maps, dynamic timelines, and innovative visualisations.

Methodology

1

Battle Selection

We select battles based on their historical importance, their impact on the evolution of France, and their educational value. Each battle must have marked a significant turning point in French or European history.

2

Documentary Research

Our research draws on primary and secondary sources: contemporary chronicles, participants' memoirs, works by recognised historians, and official military archives.

3

Critical Analysis

Every piece of information is verified and cross-checked with multiple sources. We present established facts while noting historiographical debates where they exist.

4

Educational Presentation

Information is structured to facilitate understanding: historical context, course of the battle, consequences, and significance in French history.
