Battle of Basel

The Battle of Basel is an important French victory that ensures the Republic's domination over part of the upper Rhine and opens the way to occupation of Switzerland.

In continuation of revolutionary campaigns, French forces seek to drive the coalition from the strategic Rhine territory.

Jourdan deploys coordinated attacks on several fronts, combining infantry manoeuvres and artillery support to outflank enemy defenses.

Victory allows takeover of Basel and considerably weakens Austrian positions in the region.
