Tactics
Combined use of arquebusiers, heavy cavalry, and coordinated infantry maneuvers, partial encirclement of enemy forces. Central clash of Swiss vs. Landsknechts on two parallel ridges; Gascons enfiladed the Landsknechts while the Swiss slaughtered them. Enghien launched costly cavalry charges in the north before victorious infantry returned from Cerisoles.
Consequences
French advance in Italy, weakening of Imperial forces, but the war continued with later reverses. Rare pitched victory of the late Italian Wars: ~28% of engaged forces were killed. Enghien could not exploit the advantage for lack of troops after resuming the siege of Carignan.
